layne Holloway has been the proprietor of A Cut Above since December 2002 after having worked in the salon for over 15 years.

During the 15 years prior to Elayne taking over the salon, she had built up a wealth of experience, much of it under the guidance of the previous proprietor, John Toop. John has over fifty years hairdressing experience, and for many years was a judge for hairdressing competitions at all levels, including international, and did himself represent Britain on many occasions.

Elayne encourages her staff to take part in many competitions and they have had great success in taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd places at national level. The main reason for this encouragement is because Elayne, as mentor, believes the competition environment is not only a great experience for her staff, but it also improves their skills and knowledge of the hairdressing profession.

Elayne and her staff attend regular courses to ensure they keep up-to-date with the latest techniques and styles available, and in July 2003, Elayne and her team gained their diploma in hair extensions from the hair extension specialists
